Do you have Australia’s most talented pet?

Do you have Australia’s most talented pet?

April 10 2012
One of Australia’s leading pet experts, Dr Katrina Warren, says any pet can be trained to perform tricks with a few simple tips.
Not only will these essential tips entertain and delight you and your friends, it’s the ideal way to form a long-lasting relationship between man and his or her best buddy.
Katrina’s advice comes just in time for budding animal superstars: pet specialty retailer PETstock is looking for Australia’s most talented pet. PETstock is not just focusing on the super talented trained pets (although they’re welcome) – they’re after all tricks great and small.
The PETstock Pet Tricks competition kicked off this week and pet owners are invited to send footage of their pets performing great tricks and talented acts to the PETstock website.
If your pet still has his or her training wheels on as far as tricks are concerned, Katrina offers the following tips for budding stars: keep training sessions short- about 5 minutes, two or three times a day; use ‘high value’ treats when teaching something new, such as chicken, cabanossi or cheese; training should be a fun experience for you and your dog, so don’t train your dog if you are in a bad mood or distracted. Always end on a happy note and play a quick game.
The massive PETstock prize pool includes a brand new 2012 Holden Captiva 5 Series II, which will be awarded to the owner of Australia’s most talented pet. The People’s Choice winner as voted on by the public will also walk away with an amazing Sony home entertainment pack for their Pet Trick submission.
To enter, pet owners are invited to submit a video of their pet’s trick to the PETstock website. For pet owners who don’t have access to a video camera, in-store filming will take place at Torquay’s PETstock store on Saturday, 14th April and Sunday, 15th April.
Friends, family and the general public will have the opportunity to vote for their favourite Pet Tricks by visiting the website.
PETstock Torquay is located at 18 Bristol Road, Torquay.
